Upcoming Events
West Michigan Championship (April 11-12): This prestigious tournament features Championship (1500+) and Reserve (U1500) sections. A special trophy presentation will kick off the event, honoring the new trophy bearing the champions' names.
2025 Club Championship (April- June): Starting this month, our Club Championship will span through June. This extended schedule reflects the dedication of our members, and we look forward to your participation.
Recent Highlights
Royal Game Social Chess Club Launch: In partnership with GRCC, the Royal Game Social Chess Club successfully launched in Southeast Grand Rapids. This initiative aims to expand our community and provide more opportunities for chess enthusiasts to connect.
GR Spring Classic: We hosted our longest-running annual event, the GR Spring Classic, on March 22nd. It was a great event which was highly competitive. The overall winner was Devin McCleary with 4/4! His rating improved from 1919 to 1961, beating an expert along the way. Congrats Devin! Our top U1300 was won by longtime GR chess member Dan Manning! He scored an impressive 3/4! He grabbed $100 and 150+ rating points!
Weekly Meetings
Join us every Tuesday from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at Northlawn United Methodist Church, 1157 Northlawn St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Our meetings offer casual play, USCF-rated games, and dedicated sessions for kids.
